Job Duties:

Under general direction, performs semi-skilled and skilled work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilating, hydronic and air conditioning systems; and does related work as required. The HVAC Service Technician delivers exceptional customer service and educates their customer with technical and investment decisions by providing them with multiple options and solutions while making service calls in our customer’s homes. Services include thermostats, air filters, blower fans, belts, and bearings; troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs various makes and models of HVAC equipment. The HVAC Technician will assist Replacement specialist and installation crew by educating their customer on when it is in their customer’s best interest to replace their equipment versus repairing it.

Job Requirements:

  • Residential HVAC Technicians must have good mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow and understand technical instructions.
  • Minimum three years of journey-level experience operating, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing HVAC equipment.
  • A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
  • Universal EPA License preferred.
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License at time of appointment.
  • Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in the repair of heating and air conditioning equipment in residential and light commercial buildings.
  • The operating principles of heating, air conditioning, and work safety practices related to HVAC work.
  • Ability to recognize and locate conditions which require diagnosis, repair, and maintenance work; keep records.
  • Excellent customer communication skills in order to foster business relationships and to explain repairs and replacement options to customers.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Able to work full time schedule and rotating “on-call” nights, weekends, holidays.
  • Ability to pass drug and background screen.
  • Must provide own hand tools.
  • Must have good balance for working at various heights.
  • Must be able to work in all extremes of temperature and weather.
  • Must be able to participate in long periods of highly strenuous physical activity associated with the HVAC industry.
  • Must be able to lift 100 pounds or more.
